The Coding Monk

Matthias Schmidt

I’m Matthias Schmidt — developer, system builder, and calm problem-solver.

I work with Laravel, PHP, and SQL databases to bring clarity and stability to digital systems. Whether you need to build something new or refactor an existing project, I focus on thoughtful, functional code that holds up under pressure.

Alongside backend development, I’m also experienced in system and server administration — from setting up web servers with Nginx and Postfix to managing secure Linux environments with Rspamd, ClamAV, and beyond. I know my way around the shell and can keep your infrastructure running smoothly — no drama, no bloat.

Currently based on the island of Tenerife, I’m open to both remote work and local projects. If you're in need of a quiet hand to steady the backend, manage a migration, or secure your digital setup, we should talk.

I don’t solder cables or crimp connectors anymore — but I can definitely help you sort out your stack, tame your logs, and build something solid that simply works.

My approach is minimal, focused, and mindful — shaped by decades of coding and years of spiritual training as a Buddhist monk. I’m not here to hype things up — I’m here to make things work.

Calm code. Clear structure. Conscious systems.
